"We're Park City's only 24-hour-access freestyle gym that offers a mix of classes and personal training," Roberts said during an interview with The Park Record. "We're available to anyone and everyone and we utilize the different areas outside in our community.
"We also use the trails around town as our training grounds," she said. "The customers at Windy Ridge Café see us running back and forth with tires, PVC pipes and all that stuff. So we're a full-service gym with a twist."
On Saturday, April. 5, the Sweat Shop, located at 1100 Iron Horse Dr., will offer Park City residents a chance to get in shape and donate to Friends of Animals Utah.
"We will open up our gym to anyone on a donation basis," Roberts said. "All the money collected that day will be given to Friends of Animals Utah."
In addition to cardio and weight training, Roberts has planned a schedule of sessions for that day.
The schedule is as follows:
"Anyone can come in and donate whatever they want to take these classes," Roberts said.
The gym owner said she chose Friends of Animals Utah for this event because of her dog, Sadie.
"Sadie is a Great Pyrenees and she was a Friends of Animals rescue dog," Roberts said. "She's always hanging around outside the gym and everyone knows her, so I wanted to honor my dog by holding the first monthly event for FOAU.
"The funny thing is that everyone knows Sadie, but no one knows me," Roberts said, laughing. "So hopefully this will help people get to know me as well."
Saturday's fundraiser is part of a larger plan to host fundraisers once a month for different nonprofits, she said.
"My grand scheme, or bigger hope, is to get my neighbor businesses to do something similar," Roberts said. "Mary Wintzer, who owns a large block of the buildings in the Iron Horse district, is behind me on this and wants to get all the businesses to participate in raising money for these organizations on the first Saturday of the month."
Still, Roberts is excited to see what will happen on Saturday.
