Barn Party celebrates NAC’s equestrian program
The National Ability Center will celebrate its equestrian program staff, volunteers, participants and its 30-year anniversary during the upcoming annual Barn Party that will be held on Saturday, June 4.
The festivities will run from 5:30 p.m. until 10 p.m. at the National Ability Center’s Equestrian Center, 1000 Ability Way.
The event will feature country line dancing, a mechanical bull, riding demonstrations, a barbecue, a silent auction and kids activities.
Attendees are encouraged to dress in their best Western wear.
"We’re excited the barn party will run a little longer this year," said National Ability Center Marketing Manager Whitney Thompson. "We will add in some new parts of the program that we plan to add to highlight some of the participants of the Equestrian program as well as spotlight favorite offerings from past years."
The equestrian program offers various equine-assisted activities and therapies including adaptive horseback riding, adaptive trail riding, hippotherapy and equine-assisted learning for individuals with cognitive, behavioral or physical disabilities, according to Thompson.
"This is one of our most family-friendly event and throughout the past 30 years, we have reached so many families and, in turn, have had so many families contribute," she said. "This is a great way for us to celebrate those past 30 years of possibilities for people of all abilities."
The National Ability Center Barn Party is sponsored by University of Utah Health Sciences, Vail EpicPromise, MacCool’s Public House, Del Taco, Good4Utah, High West Distillery, Performance Mobility, Salt Lake Magazine, Swire Coca-Cola, Red Rock Brewery, Young Living Farms and Zions Bank.
Admission to the Barn Party is $45 for adults, $25 for senior citizens, $20 for children ages 8 to 13, $10 for children younger than 8 and $100 for families up to five members. Registration is open through June 4 at http://www.discovernac.org.
