A staple of the Park City community, the annual Fourth of July 5K race will return for a 32nd year next Friday.
Benefiting the Park City Ski Team, the race has been one of the most popular running events in town for several years in a row.
"This is a very important one for us," Park City Ski Team director Jesse Hunt said. "It's really grown into a great event for the community and a huge benefit to [the ski team]."
The race, sponsored by Cole Sport and Industrial Supply every year since its inception, will start off a busy day in Park City.
"It's a cool event because everybody gets a T-shirt and it's a great way to kick off the day," Hunt said. "People head up to the parade and enjoy the activities after, but we have an active community that enjoys the race first."
Hunt said the ski team is thrilled to have such great partners for the event.
"We've been working with Cole Sport and Industrial Supply since the beginning," he said. "We're also excited to have Chase Bank and Jim Clifford Builders supporting us."
He added that there will be plenty of categories and prizes for everyone who participates in the run.
"We've had 1,000+ runners for a number of years now, so it's got a lot of momentum going," he said. "It's a family event we get a lot of kids coming out. There are runners of all ages and awards for all age groups."
The race will begin at 8 a.m. on Lowell Ave. It will then travel along Silver King Drive and up Three Kings, Hunt said.
Registration is open now and pre-race registration ends July 3 at 5 p.m.
"The entry fee for pre-registration is $20 for runners 11 and under and $30 for 12 and older," Hunt said. "That's available until 5 p.m. the night before. Both prices go up $5 on race day."
Hunt said the race will be a great event for everyone who decides to come out and support the ski team.
"This year, it falls on a Friday morning, so that should be great," he said. "It's going to be a long weekend of fun."
Packet pick-up and race day registration will take place in the Cole Sport parking lot, beginning at 6:30 a.m. on July 4. Awards will also be held in the Cole Sport parking lot following the race.
