Park City Nordic Ski Club honors top athletes

Submitted by Gordon Lange,

The Park City Nordic Ski Club (PCNSC) recently held its awards ceremony to honor and reflect on the 2014-15 winter season. Even though all of the kids in the program from ages 7 to 18 deserve recognition for their hard work and accomplishments, there is a special group that got some much-deserved attention — the graduating class of 2015, including Brenna Egan, Alex Jackson and Sophie McDonald.

This year’s entire graduating class will be moving on to ski in college. Brenna Egan will join last year’s PCNSC alum, Kyle Beling, and ski for the University of New Mexico. Alex Jackson has been accepted at Denver University and will join their training squad this fall, and Sophie McDonald will ski and run for the University of Northern Michigan in Marquette.

In addition, Riley Douglas — a guest skier that joined PCNSC from Rochester, New York — will ski for the University of New Hampshire next year.

These kids have been with the program for many years and most started out in the Kickers and Gliders program. The Nordic Club is honored to have coached these kids and is proud that they have chosen to continue their ski careers.

PCNSC has become one of the preeminent cross-country ski programs in the nation, and it wishes these young skiers and the other PCNSC grads currently skiing in college all the best as they continue their ski journey. It’s a real testament to how the program has grown over the years, and how, with hard work, dedication and a sound program, some ski dreams will come true.
