July 4 Mountain Fun Run

On July 4, the 33rd annual 5K Mountain Fun Run returns to Park City. Proceeds benefit the Park City Ski Team. The race begins at 8 a.m. in the Cole Sport parking lot at 1615 Park Ave. Race-day registration is available from 6:30-7:30 a.m. on July 4, with a cost of $25 for 11 and under and $35 for 12 and over.

Skateboard Series

PC Recreation, Ramp and Zeal Optics present the 2015 Skateboard Series on July 25 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Park City Skate Park. Don’t miss this fun opportunity for friendly competition against other local skaters. Divisions include Beginner Street, Girls Street, Intermediate Street, Advanced Street, Beginner Bowl and Open Bowl. Pre-register at the PC MARC for $10 or $15 day-of. Space is limited. Newpark Miles

On Monday nights this summer, lace up your running shoes with your family, friends, kids and colleagues and meet at Newpark Amphitheatre for a 1 Mile…ish fun run before dinner. The start time is 6:30 p.m., so come walk, jog, run, waddle or race your way along the course and make your way back for some Park City community camaraderie. Each night, your race bib will get you discounts around Newpark and some great sponsors are supporting the event this year! A MILERS Season Pass is available for the 10-week series; or runners can pay $10 for adults and $5 for kids 8-and-under each Monday night. Youth Dirt Jump Camp

PC Recreation’s dirt jump instructors will help children excel in the sport of progressive mountain biking with clinics for all levels of riders held at the Park City Dirt Jump Park. Ages 8 to 18 are welcome to enroll in the five sessions that began June 8. Camps are held Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to noon, and the fee is $80 per session. Park City Speed Skating Club

Come join the Park City Speed Skating Club as we begin our new season. PCSSC is a skill-building, fitness-oriented club with an emphasis on fun! Basic skating skills are necessary and all ages are welcome. Practices will take place on Monday evenings from 6:15-8 p.m. and are coached by four-time Olympian Catherine Raney-Norman. PC MARC’s Outdoor Group Personal Training

Enjoy the perks of having a personal trainer with team support. Join Miranda in a progressive outdoor adventure using the Quinn’s Junction Fitpark, fields and trails. Adult Dirt Jump Clinic

Get comfortable riding at the Park City Dirt Jump Park with our instructors who will help you quickly advance in progressive mountain biking. Skateboard Camp

PC Recreation has lined up Park City’s best skaters for its Summer Skateboard Camp to teach children the basics and new tricks at the Park City Skate Park. Aquafit

Dog Obedience Classes at the PC MARC

Certified local dog trainer Heather Hampsten will teach Puppy, Basic and Intermediate classes on Tuesday evenings, July 7 to Aug. 11 at the PC MARC. Park City M.O.B. (Moms on Bikes)

Weekly mountain bike rides led by moms for moms build skill and confidence on Park City’s vast network of trails. Rides are held on Wednesdays from June 24 to Sept. 9, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Email jmoran@parkcity.org to be added the weekly updated email list. Locations change each week.

Playin’ the Basin Way

Basin Recreation is holding open field time for those in the adaptive (physical, mental or other limitation) populations and their siblings on Saturday, July 11, from 4-6 p.m. at The Fieldhouse. Homes for our Troops Golf Tournament

On Friday, Aug. 28, Crater Springs Golf Course will host a tournament to benefit Homes for our Troops. Homes for our Troops’ mission is to build mortgage-free, specially adapted homes for severely injured veterans post-9/11, to enable them to rebuild their lives. All proceeds of the tournament will go directly to Homes for our Troops to support their outstanding efforts. Homes for our Troops has been recognized by The American Institute of Philanthropy as one of the "Top Rated Veterans and Military Charities." Help is needed with sponsors, donations and teams. Rail Trail Closure

The Rail Trail is now closed under the bridge around mile post 153 between Promontory and Wanship. Due to construction in the Silver Creek area, it will remain closed throughout the summer and into the fall. Recreational users can still use most of the trail from Promontory or Wanship toward the bridge, but won’t be able to cross all the way through. The Utah Department of Transportation anticipates completing construction by mid-October, but that depends on weather conditions.

Adventure Camp

PC Recreation’s Adventure Camp allows kids ages 9 to 14 to take full advantage of our area’s outdoor recreation offerings, including rock climbing, sailing, river rafting, mountain biking and more. Pre-Comp Swim Team

Swimmers ages 6 to 14 wishing to compete at a recreational level will benefit from coaching on stroke technique, speed and endurance by taking part in this summer’s Pre-Comp Swim Team at the PC MARC lap pool. The Hiking Club

Learn new trails and meet like-minded enthusiasts with Basin Recreation’s "The Hiking Club," a Fun Over Fifty affiliate. With three tiers, The Hiking Club is sure to offer something for everyone. The free "Level 1: Walk n’ Roll Hikes" begin at The Fieldhouse and conclude at the Newpark Free Concert Series every Thursday from 4-6 p.m. These hikes are great for the new hiker or anyone simply looking for fun social exercise. If you get bored, try "Movin’ On Up: Level 2" ($5 every other Friday). These hikes are varied difficulties and range from 3-7 miles in distance. Still bored? Check out "Level 3: Up, Up and Away Hikes" ($10 every other Friday). These are the biggest and boldest peaks in the Wasatch, which means there is some travel time and great photo ops. This gradual approach to hiking and exercise allows you to decide when to take the next step.

Basin Recreation is will present the ‘Got Barre?’ Special Class on Saturday, July 11, from 10:45 a.m. to 12 p.m. at The Fieldhouse. Cardio Tennis combines the best features of tennis with cardiovascular exercise to deliver a full-body aerobic workout. Indoor Paddleboard Yoga

Join Park City Standup Paddleboarding for indoor paddleboard yoga sessions at the Park City Aquatic Center.
