Fall junior luge teams named

After announcing its national team roster on May 20, USA Luge revealed the members of the fall 2014 Junior Team.

Sochi 2014 Olympian Tucker West headlines the group of talented athletes born in 1995 or later.

Ridgefield, Connecticut, native West, who placed 22nd at the Sochi Games and was a part of the gold medal-winning relay squad at the 2012 Youth Olympic Games, will likely return to the junior ranks for the January 2015 Junior World Championships in Lillehammer, Norway. He will race as a member of the National Team in World Cup competitions for the majority of the season.

Riley Stohr of Whitehall, Michigan, a five-time medalist in Youth A Junior World Cup competition (to age 17) and Jonny Gustafson of Massena, New York, reigning Norton Junior (to age 20) and Youth A National Champion, were also named to the fall squad.

Raychel Germaine of Roswell, Georgia, a 2012 Youth Olympian and current Norton Junior National Champion, was named to the team on the women’s side. She is joined by 2014 Norton Junior and Youth A National Championships silver medalist Grace Weinberg of Middlebury, Vermont.

The doubles team of Justin Krewson of Eastport, New York, and Tristan Jeskanen of Peru, New York, also earned spots on the team. The duo took the overall bronze medal in the 2012-13 Youth A World Cup and a silver medal in the 2014 Junior World Championship relay event.
