PCMR summer season starts May 23

Though recent snowstorms have delayed the availability of most of the mountain biking trails, Park City Mountain Resort is scheduled to open Saturday, May 23, for its summer season.
But the resort will still offer plenty of summer activities for visitors of all ages, beginning with the alpine slide and alpine coaster. Additionally, most of the base area activities will be open for Memorial Day weekend, according to communications manager Andy Miller.
"We’ll have Legends Bar & Grill open, the Crescent Burger Shack will be open, too," he said. "I think pretty much all of the base area activities alpine coaster, alpine slide, zip rider, Flying Eagle Zipline, Little Miners Park with all the stuff for the little kids and, I think, mini golf will be ready."
One of the three lifts that operate during the summer will be ready to go for Memorial Day weekend, too.
"The game plan is that PayDay lift will be running for scenic lift rides and rides to the top of the alpine slide and ziprider," Miller said. "Town Lift starts June 6 and Crescent lift starts June 21."
Eventually, Crescent will handle all mountain bike activity, but until it opens, PayDay will pick up the slack.
"Until the 21st of June, mountain bikers will be able to use PayDay lift to get up on the mountain," Miller said. "Then, once Crescent comes online, all mountain bike traffic will move over there."
Miller anticipates it’ll be a couple weeks before any serious mountain biking is available on the mountain.
"Some of the hiking trails on the very lower part of the mountain have been clearing up," he said. "But right now, it would be a really short mountain bike ride on the trails we have available. There’s still a lot of snow that has to melt up there."
Food-wise, Miller said Legends Bar & Grill will be expanding its breakfast and brunch options.
"Legends will be doing breakfast three days a week Friday, Saturday and Sunday," he said. "That’ll begin late June and go through Labor Day. We did it on Sundays only last year."
Overall, the Park City crew is ready for the warm weather and excited to get the summer season underway.
"The guys have been working hard and I think, by the 23rd, we’ll have pretty much everything set up that people have come to expect of us in the summertime."
