Sloan Urry podiums twice

Sloan ran to the front of the field in the weekend’s first race, claiming the top step on the podium for Round 11 of the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA by Yokohoma Championship on Saturday. The following two races, Round 12 and a make-up race from the rain-out at Lime Rock Park, both took place on Sunday.
The JDX Racing Pilot qualified the #20 JDX Racing/Hertz Porsche on the outside of row one for Round 12, the second race of the weekend. Sloan pushed hard to take his black-and-gold liveried Hertz Porsche past the pole sitter, but in a rare caution-free race, was never able to make it to the front. Sloan ran the entire race in P2 as he pursued the race leader, but ultimately had to settle in and take his second podium finish of the weekend.
The third race of the weekend (technically round 6 of the championship and a make-up race from a rain-out at Lime Rock Park earlier in the season) had Sloan staged fourth on the starting grid. The 45-minute race was much tougher on the young JDX racer, as a quick move up to third was blunted by a "hip check" from one of his competitors dropping him back to sixth in the running order. Sloan managed to stay with the lead group and, with some late race yellows, fought his way back to fourth position and had plenty of forward momentum. Unfortunately, a last lap full course yellow ended his chances for a third podium on the weekend.
"I’m pretty pleased with results here at Road America," Urry said. "Of course, there is always room for improvement and I would have liked to give these guys a three-podium weekend. I’m pretty confident I could have made a late-race pass in our last race on Sunday and grabbed third, but the incident in turn one forced the series to go full course yellow and that was that. It was a great points weekend for us and I feel confident that we’ll be quick in the final four rounds of the championship."
Harrison Brix commented, "All in all, we got some good championship points here which is what we wanted. We have excellent momentum, having won two of the past five races and the combination of Sloan driving as well as he is and the crew firing on all cylinders, we are feeling good about our championship."
The green flag for Round 13 flies at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas, on Friday, Sept. 19, at 7 a.m. MST, followed by Round 14 at 6:25 p.m. MST that same day.
