Solitude announces summer schedule
May 24, 2016
With the winter ski season now ended, Solitude Mountain Resort is transitioning available mountain activities over to summer operations. The resort’s dining operations begin June 9 and activities such as mountain biking, hiking, fishing, disc golf and mountain scooters will operate beginning June 17. The activities will be available through Oct. 2.
"We offer summer guests the ability to experience pure Solitude on our mountain," said Kim Mayhew, General Manager for Solitude Mountain Resort. "Whether they are seeking the thrill of a downhill mountain bike descent or the relaxation of a scenic chairlift ride, we do summers beautifully up here."
Lift-served mountain biking, hiking and scenic rides will be offered from Solitude Village on Sunrise chairlift Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Featuring more than 20 miles of tree-lined trails, Solitude has some of the most scenic and accessible single track in Utah, with season passes available for $79, full-day passes for $20 and single ride passes for $10 (children six and under are free with a paying adult). Solitude provides top-of-the-line mountain bike and mountain scooter rentals, either full day or for two hours, from the Powderhorn Adventure Center.
Starting at 9,000 feet, Solitude Mountain Resort’s 18-hole disc golf course is one of Utah’s finest high-altitude courses. Commonly known as Frisbee golf, disc golf is as fun as it is challenging. The course winds along the scenic mountainside and the holes range from 300 to 500 feet in length. Access to the course is free for guests who hike up or begin at the Nordic Center. Guests may also purchase a chairlift ride to access the course and the first hole via the Sunrise chairlift. Daily disc rentals are also available through the Powderhorn Adventure Center.
Solitude Village has three summer dining options available for guests: Honeycomb Grill, Stone Haus Pizzeria & Creamery and the Thirsty Squirrel. With its scenic deck facing the mountains, Honeycomb Grill serves dynamic, contemporary American fare. Beginning June 9, Honeycomb Grill will be open Thursday through Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. and offers a Sunday brunch from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with special Monday holiday openings on July 4, July 25 and Sept. 5. Honeycomb’s menu features an array of chef-selected appetizers, wood oven-baked flatbreads, handmade pastas, wild game, Utah trout, hand-cut steaks and house-made desserts. A full bar, wine and beer are also available.
Conveniently located in the center of Solitude Village, Stone Haus Pizzeria & Creamery offers a variety of fresh food for every meal, including quick breakfast items, panini sandwiches, pizza, salads, local gourmet ice cream and coffee. Beginning June 9, Stone Haus will be open Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Stone Haus also provides all menu items to go.
