The Utah Department of Workforce Services is scheduled to host an employer seminar "How to
Improve Your Workforce," on Tuesday, Oct. 9 at 12:30 p.m. Employers will be able to learn more about the process and benefits of hiring refugee workers. The event will feature Parkites Suzanne Smikahl from Marriott's Summit Watch and Andrew Edtl from Walmart. The seminar will be held at the Yarrow Resort Hotel located on 1800 Park Avenue. Ski Utah needs new blogger
Ski Utah is looking for its next food blogger for its website. "From hole-in-the-wall bar burgers to elegant 5-star cuisine, Utah has a vast array of dining options that will satisfy any palate," the website read. Interested applicants can submit online in the comment section of the Ski Utah blog, and are asked to submit no more than 200 words describing why they should be considered. Three finalists, selected by a Ski Utah panel will receive an interview over lunch. Job duties include one blog post per week from Oct. 24 through April 15. Ski Utah's food blogger will receive a Ski Utah Silver Pass, which enables the blogger to ski 30 days at all 14 Utah ski resorts. Applications are due no later than midnight, October 10, 2012.
Utah gas prices up 36 cents
Utah's motorists saw pump prices increase 36 cents since AAA's last report on August 8. The current average price of $3.83 a gallon is the highest recorded average price in Utah for 2012, according to a press release from AAA. The national average price of $3.84 is up by 14 cents from last month's report, the release continued. Eight states - California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Michigan, New York, Oregon and Washington - report prices over $4.
