The Park City Chamber/Bureau launched its latest offerings to its members: the App Store. It allows members to peruse for online applications that may benefit their business, from accounting to social media programs.

"The store is designed mainly for small business," said Craig McCarthy, the Director of Member Services for the Park City Chamber/Bureau. "This service eliminates the high capital expenses of purchasing and deploying hardware or software services. You don't have to go to a store, buy a computer and get the software too.

"Let's say you need to upgrade your finance and accounting, how the money goes in and out. In the App Store under finance and accounting programs, you will find 103 different applications, everything from accounting to billing to invoicing to expense reports."

The App Store is run by SaaS Markets, a global business app store provider that is targeting different chambers of commerce across the country. SaaS stands for "software-as-a-service," and the business allows Park City Chamber/Bureau members to access pre-qualified applications aimed to streamline operations, reduce costs and boost productivity. Everything is online, no download required.

Before partnering with SaaS, the chamber researched the company and other chambers that have already partnered with the new service. The reviews were good, McCarthy said.

"We take pride in helping other businesses succeed without taking on the burden of major investments and time spent managing technology," said Ferdi Roberts, founder and CEO of SaaS Markets, "and we look forward to more high-value partnerships.

With more than 1,300 cloud-based applications, programs that are accessible from any device, the app store is accessible through the chamber's website where locals can sign up for free trials and subscribe to month-to-month services.

The "try-before-you-buy" trials and educational materials are provided with nearly all applications through SaaS, and every program is "cloud-based" to be scalable, customizable and accessible to any industry.

"It really covers just about anything you could imagine business needing as far as software needs," McCarthy said. "It is definitely a one-stop shop."

"Most of the apps cost between $15 and $20 a month, and that's a lot less than having to go out to buy all new software, a lot than an upfront purchase."
