Summit County distributed an essay contest to all fourth-grade students in the county in early March, and participants had to write an essay response to the question: "What can I do to prepare myself and my family for an emergency?"
The Park City School District winners both came from Trailside Elementary School. Ava Bowlen will be designated County Fire Chief for the Day and Kennedy Heavrin will be receive the honor of County Deputy Sheriff for the Day on Saturday, April 26, at the Park City Fire District, Station 33, at 12 p.m.
Ecker Hill PTO Meeting
The Ecker Hill Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) will hold a meeting at the school on Thursday, April 24, at 9 a.m. in the library. Several officer positions are available, including president, vice president elect, treasurer and secretary.
Chair Positions available to be filled for the 2014-15 school year include academic league, dual language immersion representative, honor roll rewards, Red Ribbon Week, seventh-grade year end party and staff appreciation week. PCSD student places at state geography bee
Stryder Larsen, a fifth-grade student at Jeremy Ranch Elementary placed seventh at the Utah State National Geographic Bee at Thanksgiving Point on Friday, April 4.
According to Park City School District's elementary gifted education specialist, DeEtte Earl, Larsen was the youngest competitor in the final round, competing against sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade students.
