Summit County Library summer events

The Summit County Library will kick off its Summer Reading Program in June, and this year's theme is Fizz, Boom READ! Summer reading packets will be available at the Kimball Junction location at 6505 Landmark Dr. starting the last week of school on Monday, June 2.

The kick-off event with the Mad Science Discovery Team will be held on Tuesday, June 10, with two science presentations at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. All ages are invited, but younger children are encouraged to attend the morning event and older children to the afternoon event.

'Raising the Bar' fundraising opportunity

"Raising the Bar" is a campaign by the Park City Education Foundation to raise enough money to hire two additional gifted-and-talented education specialists for the elementary schools in the district. The goal is to raise approximately $180,000 by June 1.

A Trailside Elementary School parent is hosting an information and fundraising session on Wednesday, May 21, at 6130 Trailside Dr. from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. For more information or to RSVP, contact Ann Futch at afutch@sierraadvisory.com.

Upcoming high school graduations

North Summit High School will be the first of the three school districts in Summit County to hold graduation. NSHS seniors will graduate on Friday, May 23, at 7:30 p.m. at the high school auditorium at 111 East 100 South, and students will be allowed 10 tickets each.

The graduation will also be broadcast in the high school library. South Summit High School will follow with graduation on Thursday, May 29, and Park City High School will hold ceremonies on Friday, June 6.
