Free meals available for students this summer

The Park City School District is holding a free meal program this summer at McPolin Elementary School. According to a press release, the program will run from June 15 to July 23, with breakfast and lunch being served Monday through Thursday. Breakfast will be from 8:30 a.m. to 9 a.m., while lunch will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. All children aged 18 or younger can participate. No children will be turned away. The program served more than 2,000 meals last year. For more information, contact Elizabeth Strasser, of the Park City School District Child Nutrition Department, at 435-615-0224.

PCHS student wins scholarship

Victor Liwanag, a student at Park City High School, has won the Civilian Marksmanship Program’s 2015-2016 CMP Youth Scholarship. According to a press release, the $1,000 scholarship is based on grade point average, merit and marksmanship participation. Liwanag was one of 173 winners of the scholarship across the country. The Civilian Marksmanship Program is a national organization that teaches the safe handling of firearms and attempts to insill patriotism and discipline in youth.

Host families sought for exchange students

ASSE International Student Exchange Programs is looking for local families to host exchange students next school year. According to a press release, the students are between the ages of 15 and 18 and come from countries such as Norway, Denmark, Spain, Italy and Japan. Host families welcome the students into their homes and treat them "not as a guest, but as a family member, giving everyone involved a rich cultural experience."
