Park City seventh-graders need immunizations

The Park City School District is reminding parents that all incoming seventh-grade students need to show proof of immunizations. According to a press release, the immunizations needed are the TDaP vaccine, the meningococcal vaccine and the second varicella vaccine. Students who do not have proof of having received the vaccines will not be allowed to begin school. For more information, visit the school district’s website, pcschools.us, or the Ecker Hill Middle School website, ehms.pcschools.us. Parents with questions are also encouraged to contact the Summit County Health Department at 435-333-1500.

PCSD asks parents to complete survey

The Park City School District is asking parents to fill out a survey regarding their opinions about flexible and non-traditional school schedules. According to the district’s website, an email with the survey has been sent to every parent in the district — it can also be accessed on the website — and must be completed by Friday, July 24. The website states: "Your responses will help identify the services, programs and support necessary to ensure both the academic and extracurricular success of students who may find a traditional public school calendar difficult due to extracurricular practice, rehearsal, performance or competition schedules." Responses to the survey are confidential.

Organization encourages bullying awareness

PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center, based in Minnesota, is raising awareness about bullying as the upcoming school year looms. According to a press release, 13 million students are bullied each year in America, meaning students, parents and schools need to take action. "When schools take measures at the beginning of the year to prevent bullying, all students are positioned for success," said Paula Goldberg, PACER’s executive director, in the release.
