Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forests Christmas tree permits
The holiday season is coming and thousands of people every year cut their Christmas tree from national forests. Weather conditions in the mountains are unpredictable, so residents should be prepared for winter weather.
Christmas tree permits will be sold on Friday, Nov. 2 and Saturday, Nov. 3 at Soldier Hollow Lodge, located at 2002 Olympic Drive, in Midway, Utah. Non- transferable wristbands will be issued to the first 1,000 individuals starting at 6 a.m. on both days. Individuals with a wristband must purchase their tree permit in person from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Lodge on both days. One tree permit per adult (16 years of age and older) and will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis. Tree cutting permits are $10.00 and are for designated cutting areas within the south end of the Heber-Kamas Ranger District. The sale of Christmas Tree Permits is Friday and Saturday only. Only sub-alpine fir trees 20 feet tall or shorter may be cut and removed. All trees must be tagged prior to transporting them.
