According to Meals-on-Wheels spokeswoman Stephanie Benson, the program is especially important this year.
"We've asked mayors in the community to help us deliver meals, just for one day," she said. "It's really important this year with the looming spending cuts. We really need the support from the local officials, so we are really excited to have them on board."
Coalville Mayor Duane Schmidt, Henefer Mayor Randy Ovard and Kamas Mayor Lewis Marchant will be participating in the program this year to help raise awareness of senior hunger in the community.
"They are always great saying yes without even looking at their schedules," she said. "One of the most fun things about riding with them, is that they know everyone and know where to go. It's wonderful."
This is the third year Mayors for Meals has been held in Utah, and the second year it's been held in Summit County.
