Information on the following cases filed by the Summit County Attorney's Office between Jan. 6 and Jan. 10 was provided by Summit County Attorney David Brickey:

Daniel Adam Schwartz, 25, of Pikesville, Md., was charged with possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia. On Dec. 24, 2013, a trooper with the Utah Highway Patrol stopped Schwartz on Interstate 80 in Summit County for a minor traffic violation. During the stop, the trooper smelled the odor of marijuana coming from the car. The trooper searched the car and found 3.8 ounces of marijuana and hashish, a marijuana cigarette and two metal filters.

Jesse M. Mitchell, 21, of New Lenox, Ill., was charged with drug possession and intoxication. On Jan. 1, an officer with the Park City Police Department saw a shirtless Mitchell wander into traffic on Main Street in Park City. He stopped Mitchell to check on his welfare. Mitchell appeared to be intoxicated and told the officer that he was "walking back to Chicago." The officer arrested Mitchell for intoxication. During the booking process, deputies at the jail discovered 9.2 grams of marijuana.

Michael Earl Coppage, 43, of Santa Rosa, Calif., was charged with drug possession. On Dec. 20, 2013, a trooper with the Utah Highway Patrol stopped Coppage on I-80 in Summit County for impeding the flow of traffic. During the stop, the trooper found 11 pounds of marijuana in Coppage's car.

The following cases were heard in the Third District Court on Monday, Jan. 13:

Butch H. Luffman, 36, of Park City, was ordered to serve 60 days in jail, to pay a $750 fine and to serve two years probation supervised by Adult Probation and Parole for a domestic violence-related assault. At a previous hearing in the case, Luffman pleaded no contest to repeatedly punching a woman in the head on the night of Sept. 17, 2013.

Candice Cherise Hernandez, 32, of Salt Lake City, was ordered to serve 36 months probation supervised by Adult Probation and Parole and to pay $3,970 in restitution for committing theft. The charge arose after Hernandez and two others entered a home in Park City and stole jewelry and electronics valued at over $5,000.

Heather A. Harris, 44, of Park City, was sentenced to serve 10 days in jail, 18 months on probation and to pay a $1,520 fine for driving under the influence. On March 2, 2013, Harris plowed into a line of cars waiting at a red light at the intersection of Deer Valley Drive and Park Avenue. During the investigation of the accident, officers determined that Harris was impaired by alcohol. A subsequent blood draw and chemical test revealed that her blood alcohol level was .30, more than three times the legal limit.

Mofieleli S. McAlister, 33, of Park City, was sentenced to a year in jail and three years probation for sexual abuse of a child. At an earlier hearing, McAlister pleaded no contest to molesting a young girl in Park City.
