Raptor Inventory Nest Survey volunteers needed
The annual Raptor Inventory Nest Survey (RINS) is looking for volunteers to monitor the nesting ecology of eagles, falcons, hawks, osprey and owls.
The survey helps to provide valuable data to federal and state agencies and employs the assistance of "citizen scientists" as part of a long-term raptor nest monitoring project.
No science credentials are needed to become a volunteer, although those interested must know how to discover a nest or identify a raptor. RINS recommends that volunteers own a pair of binoculars, a GPS unit, a digital camera and have an e-mail address.
Volunteers should anticipate a time commitment consisting of monitoring visits to an assigned area from March through July.
Training workshops for volunteers will be held Feb. 22 and Mar. 1 in Salt Lake City. For more information on the workshop location and times, call 801-554-0807, or e-mail email@example.com . The website for the survey is rins.org.
