On Monday evening, a Summit Park man was found dead in his vehicle in Parley's Canyon from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Deputies with the Summit County Sheriff's Office responded to the incident which had occurred just past the county line in Salt Lake County, according to Capt. Justin Martinez.

Just after 8 p.m. on Monday, Summit County Sheriff's Dispatch received a report of a possible suicidal male in the Summit Park area. Upon deputies' arrival, the man, in his mid-50s, was found dead in his vehicle with a gunshot wound to the head near the intersection of Crestview Drive and Maple Drive in Salt Lake County, Martinez said.

Unified Police Department was notified and the investigation was turned over to their jurisdiction. Martinez said the man had recently been released from a treatment center and the report of his suicidal inclination was called in by an individual close to him.

Unified P.D. responded to the incident with a detective and a forensics team and a detective with the Summit County Sheriff's Office assisted with the medical examiner portion of the investigation.
