Sheriff’s Report, Oct. 7-9, 2015

The Summit County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man Sunday who was in possession of a stolen iPhone. He was located in Salt Lake County via the Find My iPhone app.

The victim contacted the Sherriff’s Office after the stolen phone had been turned on and located, according to the Sheriff’s Office call logs. The app allows users to track missing or stolen Apple products.

Deputies then contacted several agencies in the Salt Lake County area for assistance finding the suspect, who was apprehended by Unified Police and booked into the Summit County Jail for theft and drug possession.

According to the Summit County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to numerous other calls between Tuesday, Sept. 29, and Sunday, Oct. 4, including the following:

Sunday, Oct. 4

A man with an active warrant was arrested while on foot in the Basin and transported to the Summit County Jail.

Saturday, Oct. 3

An unknown suspect damaged a gate and several cement blocks at a South Summit campsite.

Friday, Oct. 2

Deputies responded to reports of a possible domestic violence incident at a Kimball Junction area hotel. No arrests were made and deputies did not discover any evidence a physical fight took place.

A man discovered his Ruger .40 caliber pistol missing from his four-wheeler while he was camping in South Summit.

Thursday, Oct. 1

Dispatch received a report of a man drinking and driving in the Kimball Junction area. Deputies discovered the suspect had several empty bottles of beer and vodka in his trunk. He was arrested for driving under the influence and having an open container.

Wednesday, Sept. 30

A Kimball Junction area employee admitted stealing two gift cards and two iPods after being confronted by a store manager. The case will be forwarded to the county attorney’s office.

A man reported to dispatch that several items were stolen from his car while it was parked in a Basin-area neighborhood. The items missing included two laptops.

Dispatch received a report from a Basin-area man who claimed he saw suspects in a Gold Dodge Caravan break a window on a Blue Ford Explorer.

Tuesday, Sept. 29

A man was reportedly assaulted outside of a business in a Basin-area neighborhood.

An assistant manager at a Basin-area business reported the theft of a MacBook Air.

A report was filed in South Summit about a potentially suicidal man.
