Once again, Teri Orr changed the mood, the dynamics and the spirit of our community by feeding our souls with an incredible artistic experience on New Year's Eve. Whenever Teri takes the stage, her comments are relevant.
Speaking to a sold-out crowd, Teri addressed the hurt, hardship and confusion of the last few weeks of 2012. Then, she explained, that even though events like Sandy Hook make us want to stay inside and isolate ourselves, it is precisely those events that require us to participate in the good, the light, and the comfort of our community.
Teri Orr packed a house and inspired both the audience and the entertainers.
Kristen Chenoweth repeatedly complimented the staff of the Park City Performing Arts Foundation.
I left the theater feeling inspired.
Thank God and Teri Orr for bringing art education to our community.
Chenoweth also talked about her family. She comes from a family of mathematicians and acknowledges that her brother and father should never sing and she should never do math. We need to celebrate the arts. We need to celebrate our differences. Science, technology, engineering and math mean nothing without art. As a community, let's celebrate all aspects of education in 2013. Instead of STEM, let's add art and promote STEAM.
Happy New Year.

The only thing missing was the Silver Queen
The Park City Historical Society & Museum's second annual Silver Queen Ball on December 27 was a tremendous success. Once again, the event sold out!
A huge thank you to the generosity of our grand sponsors: Cole Sport, Tesoro, Jones Waldo, Mogul Financial Group, Cementation, Wells Fargo and Deer Valley Resort. Your underwriting the event made it possible.
Also, thank you to the Montage Deer Valley for their beautiful location and hospitality. It was the perfect winter wonderland spot for a holiday gala.
Our wonderful community, both businesses and individuals, donated the most wonderful items for our drawing and silent and live auctions. Every single item had multiple bidders. Thank you to you all.
As everyone knows, our incredible volunteers are the best ever! We can never thank them often enough for their loyalty and help. Isn't Tom Clyde the wittiest emcee? Likewise, the Silver Queen Ball committee spent countless hours planning and decorating for the event.
Lastly, thank you so much to everyone who supported us and bought tickets. You are terrific. The whole evening was so much fun! There was much laughter, delicious food and beverages, rocking music with the legendary Otis Day and the Knights, and a huge array of great items to win. This is the museum's major yearly fund-raiser and allows us to continue offering our award-winning education programs and exhibits.
