The Juan Diego Soaring Eagle didn't soar Friday night but kept to the ground -- as it so often does -- and the Miners couldn't stop the 3A powerhouse from racking up rushing yards.

The Park City High School football team fell to the Soaring Eagle 58-0 Friday in Draper, dropping to 1-8 on the season and 0-4 in Region 10 play. Juan Diego running back Cole Nelson rushed for 101 yards and two touchdowns, while fellow backfield mates Chase Williams (125 yards rushing and two touchdowns), Dakota Cox (three total touchdowns) and Jessie Springer (127 yards) helped dominate.

After trailing 21-0 at halftime, the Miner defense couldn't keep the Juan Diego offense from explosive plays in the second half as the Soaring Eagle had four touchdown plays of 40 yards plus.

Park City sophomore quarterback Ian Moritz led the way for the Miners on the ground, rushing for a team-high 82 yards on 21 carries, while senior running back Alex Boyle rushed for 61 yards on 22 carries. Junior linebacker Konnor Andersen was a standout for the defense, leading Park City in tackles with 15.

The Miners don't have much time to worry about the loss to Juan Diego as their long time rivals, the Wasatch Wasps, are scheduled to venture to Dozier Field this Friday at 7 p.m. in the 2012 season finale.

While the Wasps (7-2 overall, 3-1 in region play) are ranked second in Region 10, Park City has won the last 10 meetings, most recently toppling Wasatch 40-18 in Heber City last season.

A potent Wasatch aerial attack is led by quarterback James Delacenserie, who has thrown for 2,257 yards and 30 touchdowns with just four interceptions in nine games this year. Wasp receivers Gavin Nebeker (793 yards, 10 touchdowns), Kayden Connor (703 yards, 12 touchdowns) and Talem Franco (436 yards, four touchdowns) are Delacenserie's favorite targets.

Friday will be Senior Night at Park City High School. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
