After a record-breaking season, Ted Ligety is coming home to Park City today.

Ligety, who won three gold medals at the Alpine World Championships in Schladming, Austria, and also claimed the World Cup giant slalom season title, will be at Park City Mountain Resort today for a homecoming celebration.

In front of his hometown fans, Ligety will answer questions, sign autographs and make a speech.

U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association President and CEO Bill Marolt and Park City Mayor Dana Williams will also speak at the event.

After the speeches, musician Bryon Friedman (a U.S. Ski Team alum) will perform a concert on the PayDay Deck.

"This is an opportunity for Park City to celebrate a true hometown champion in Ted Ligety," Marolt said. "His performance this winter solidified his legacy as one of the legends of alpine skiing. The entire community played a role in his success over the years."

Ligety's GS title was the fourth of his career. He managed to hold off Austrian Marcel Hirscher for the title, though Hirscher claimed the overall title.

His three gold medals (super G, GS, and super-combined) at the 2013 FIS Alpine World Championships in Schladming marked the first time since 1968 that a male alpine skier has won three golds at a single World Championships.

Next season, Ligety will attempt to more Olympic gold medals at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics. He won gold in the combined at the 2006 Torino Games.

All events are free to the public.
