The Park City High School girls’ lacrosse team has made a habit out of winning games by 10 goals.

After a 16-6 win over Juan Diego and a 14-4 throttling of Jordan in recent weeks, the Miners added another 10-point victory on Thursday evening at Knoop Field, defeating Judge Memorial 13-3.

"We didn’t play our best game, which seems strange since we won by 10 goals; but we just played very sloppy," Park City coach Amy Hafets said. "It comes back to hustle and the fundamentals."

But Hafets added that the coaching staff has given the Miners some Spring Break homework.

"We’re giving them workouts to do, and we’re going to be meeting up again on Thursday," she said.

Though the play against Judge was sloppy, Hafets said there were a few players who turned in strong performances in the win.

"Haley Adelman played defense a little bit for us today," she said. "It’s out of her normal role, but she did an excellent job."

She also pointed out that Sierra Schlag and Natalie Frost did a good job winning 50-50 balls.

"Sierra caused quite a few turnovers and came up with a lot of ground balls on defense," she said. "And Natalie did a good job forcing turnovers and controlling the ball in our attacking end."

And, she said, Katy Miele got the team off to a good start offensively.

"She had a pretty solid performance on attack," Hafets said. "She scored our first three goals."

By the time the players return to the field April 29 against Olympus, Hafets said she hopes the weather conditions are better.

"These past two weeks, we’ve had some rough playing conditions," she said. "We were out here (Wednesday) literally practicing in a whiteout."

But, she added, battling through the cold and the snow has built her team’s character.

"We’re very proud of the girls for handling those adverse conditions," she said. "It’s certainly going to make us stronger going forward."

Park City (22-0) has three games left, all against North Conference opponents. Hafets said the April 29 game against Olympus will be a true test of where the team stands.

"Usually that Monday game after Spring Break is really scary just because you can tell they’re a little off and a little out of sync," she said. "We have three tough games after break, so it’s very important for us that we are focused."
