During the chilly temperatures and snow, the Park Silly Sunday Market staff is looking towards June 8.

That’s when the not-for-profit, eco-friendly, open-air market opens for its weekly Main Street run that is scheduled to run through Sept. 22.

The staff is currently seeking nonprofit organizations to fill some booth spaces, said Ryan Cray, director of media and programming for the Park Silly Sunday Market.

"We are also looking for other organizations that deal with sustainable issues to come fill these areas as well," Cray said during an interview with The Park Record. "We usually showcase two to three nonprofits per week."

The Market also needs non-musical performance artists and people who have ideas for children’s activities in an area that will be set up on 7th Street, a new location this year.

"We’re really excited about that," she said. "It’s going to be set up like a community alley."

In addition, Park Silly is still taking vendor applications.

"We feature, on average, 180 vendors per week, and each week is different," Cray explained. "We are especially looking for artisan vendors, as well as local farmers to sell their produce."

The farmers have to pay a $300 deposit to sell at the Market, but the money is returned to them at the end of the season, Cray said.

"We have enough on-site cooking artisans and jewelers selected, but we are looking for designers and gourmet-food artisans to participate in the Market," she said.

Applying is easy and can be done by visiting http://www.parksillysundaymarket.com , Cray said.

"I handle all applications from kids activities, nonprofit and sustainable organizations and Michelle McDonald is the one in charge of all the vendor applications," Cray explained. "There is no deadline, but the spaces do fill up quickly. So the sooner the better."

The thing Park Silly doesn’t need right now are featured artists, which will be set up next to the Main Stage on Main Street.

"That is a place dedicated to artists who give demonstrations to the public," Cray said. "All those slots have been filled and we have made a waiting list."

The Market tries to fill the spots with as many local artists as possible.

"We have artists from Salt Lake City and many from Park City as well," Cray said. "We’re excited for another great season."

The Park Silly Sunday Market is accepting applications its eighth summer. The market will run every Sunday from June 8 through Sept. 22, except for Aug. 3. For more information visit http://www.parksillysundaymarket.com.
