This past week, the Friends of the Park City Library announced the author for their annual spring membership luncheon, which will take place this year on Thursday, May 11 at 11:30 a.m. at Deer Valley Resort’s Silver Lake Lodge.
Novelist and former Utahn Marilyn Abildskov, author of "The Men in My Country," will speak at the event talking about her book and her writing.
The cost of the event is $35 and includes the lunch and a year-long membership to the Friends of the Library. Tickets for the event are available at the Park City Library. For more information, call 615-5600.
Art Center hosts ‘Arte Latino’ events
The Kimball Art Center will have its share of events in the coming weeks, as the organization’s "Arte Latino" exhibition continues. Today and next Saturday, April 8 and 15, the art center will host Family Art Saturdays, with free art education programs and a chance to make some unique creations. Those events will run both Saturdays from noon to 5 p.m.
Wednesday, April 12, from 6-8 p.m., the Kimball will host photographer Tony Yapias for an Art Talk. There, Yapias will talk about his work composing "Latinos de Utah," the exhibition that is currently on display in the Kimball’s Garage and Badami galleries. That event will include hors d’oeuvres and refreshments and is free and open to the public.
Finally, the art center will present another event, a free reception ahead of the free screening of "Solo Dios Sabe," which is presented by the Park City Film Series and the Sundance Institute in conjunction with the Kimball. The reception, which will start at 5:30 p.m. will include an appearance by the film’s producer.

Utah Bakers Dozen to hold chocolaty meeting
The Utah Bakers Dozen will present a seminar, "Everything Chocolate" on Monday, April 24 from 3-6 p.m. at Deer Valley Resort’s Silver Lake Lodge.
The event, which is for amateur and professional bakers and cooks, will feature insight from Stein Eriksen Lodge Executive Pastry Chef Raymond Lammers, who will talk about how chocolate is made, chocolate tasting and other chocolate-making tips.
The event is $10 for members and $20 for nonmembers. The meeting will include light refreshments. For more information, call (801) 550-1535.
