Clothing Donations Needed for Upcoming Fundraiser

U-SA Cares for Life, a nonprofit organization based in West Jordan, seeks donations of slightly used clothing for a Park City Boutique fundraiser that will be held Saturday, June 1, from noon until 6 p.m. at Little Miner’s Montessori School, 1091 Beehive Dr. The fundraiser will help support destitute children and abandoned babies in South Africa. Travel Day Rally Barbecue

The Park City Visitor Information Center, 1794 Olympic Parkway at Kimball Junction, will host a free barbecue on Tuesday, May 7, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. to celebrate the kick off to the summer season. The Crossroads Project at the Swaner EcoCenter

The Swaner EcoCenter, 1258 Center Dr. at Kimball Junction, will host the Crossroads Project, an evocative performance blending music, information, and imagery, on Wednesday, May 8, beginning at 7:30 p.m. The evening will feature the Fry Street Quartet performing a newly commissioned work by composer Laura Kaminsky called "Rising Tide." Park City Newcomers Club will hold its monthly meeting on Wednesday, May 8, from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at the Park City Community Church, 4501 N. S.R. 224. Funeral Services For Soccer Referee Ricardo Portillo

Current and former soccer athletes, parents and coaches: To honor the life and contribution of volunteer soccer referee Ricardo Portillo, please join us in showing respect to his family at the funeral services tomorrow, Wednesday, May 8. Please do not take a seat at the service, or a parking space intended for family and friends of the Portillo family. Carpool, arrive an hour early if possible, park off-site, and WEAR A SOCCER JERSEY or shirt representing any team. We will stand peacefully and silently outside the church and along the route to the church to show our respect. Services are at 5:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 715 W. 300 North, Salt Lake City. Please arrive by 4:00.

In case of rain: we have played soccer, and refs have refereed games, in everything from sun to hail to snow storms. Please bring what you need to be comfortable in all weather conditions.
