Extrasolar Intelligence: Star Party at the Swaner EcoCenter
The Swaner EcoCenter, 1258 Center Dr. at Kimball Junction, will host James M. Coburn, from Utah State University’s physics department, for a talk on an extrasolar intelligence in the universe that will be followed by a Star Party with telescope viewing on the Swaner Pier on Thursday, Nov. 14, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Possible observation targets for the evening include: the moon, Albireo, the Pleiades and the Andromeda Galaxy. Veterans Day Artist Reception at the Kimball Art Center
The Kimball Art Center, 638 Park Ave., will host a Veterans Day artist reception on Friday, Nov. 15, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., for photographer Lynn Blodgett’s exhibit "Soldier Boy, Soldier Girl" that is on display at the Kimball’s Garage Gallery through Dec. 1. The exhibit features dramatically lit portraits featuring two ‘soldiers’ — one male, one female — dressed in the military uniforms of every war fought by the United States.
