2009 Economic Forecast Luncheon

Forbes publisher to give predictions on year

The Park City Chamber/Bureau luncheon on Monday will feature Rich Karlgaard, publisher of Forbes Magazine, entrepreneur, columnist and television commentator.

In the summer of 2007 Treasury Secretary Henry Poulson said the economy was in best shape that he’d seen in his working career. Karlgaard, in a teaser video, poses the question, "What on earth happened?"

"Can you imagine that, just a year and a half ago? Now we’ve come through the worst quarter of 2008, the last quarter, rivaling quarters we saw during the Great Depression," he said. "What economy are we dealing with? More importantly, when is recovery going to happen?"

Karlgaard will discuss these and other issues Monday as he has in his bi-weekly column for Forbes Magazine and as a frequent television commentator.

An entrepreneur, publisher, and business journalist, Karlgaard "has a unique vantage point on the trends driving the business and investment climates," said a press release. "His insights help audiences see the global marketplace with new eyes."
