Albertsons pharmacy is robbed

Patrick Parkinson, Of the Record staff

About 50 Methadone pills were stolen Thursday when a pharmacy at Albertsons in Pinebrook was robbed, authorities said.

Deputies are searching for a suspect who is about six feet tall with an average build. He was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and a baseball cap and had his face covered with a dark rag.

The case occurred at 8:40 p.m., Summit County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Justin Martinez said.

The suspect, who indicated he had a gun, handed the pharmacist a note demanding the pills, Martinez said, adding that officers are reviewing surveillance footage from inside the store.

Though no weapon was seen, the man acted as if he had a gun in the pocket of his sweatshirt, the officer added.

The suspect fled from the store through an emergency door, according to investigators.

"This is the first [pharmacy robbery] that I can recall in a long time," Martinez said.

People with information about the case should contact the Summit County Sheriff’s Office at (435) 615-3500.
