Assailant robs man at market

A knife-wielding assailant robbed a man Tuesday in a Park City market popular with Latinos and fled, the Park City Police Department said.

Officers responded to a robbery alarm at just after 1:30 p.m. at La Michoacana Market on the 1900 block of Prospector Avenue. According to the police, the suspect approached a customer as he was handing money to a cashier, demanding the money and then grabbing the cash.

The victim resisted, the two hit each other and the suspect pulled out a knife and threatened the man, the police said. The suspect drove away eastbound on Prospector Avenue in a car described as a maroon Nissan Altima with a partial Utah license-plate number of Z268.

The suspect is described as a Latino between 30 and 35 years old. His head is shaved. He is between 5 foot, 3 inches tall and 5 foot, 8 inches tall and weighs between 170 and 180 pounds. He wore a red T-shirt and black pants.

A passenger in the vehicle is described as a Latino man wearing a white T-shirt and black pants. He might have worn a green hat.

The victim is 28 years old and from Summit County. He was not injured, the police said.
