The filing window for the Park City Council campaign opens on Monday and runs until July 16. Candidates must submit papers to City Hall during the window to run in this fall’s election.

When: Weekdays from July 2 until July 16, except Independence Day, when City Hall is closed. Hours are from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Where: The Park City Attorney’s Office, on the lower floor of City Hall. Cindy LoPiccolo is City Hall’s elections official and works in the Attorney’s Office. Her phone number is 615-5026.

Who: People who want to run must be a U.S. citizen, at least 18 years old by Election Day, which is Nov. 6, 2007, a resident of Park City for 12 consecutive months before Election Day and a registered voter in Park City.

The seats: Three City Council spots are on the ballot. Candy Erickson, Joe Kernan and Marianne Cone now hold the seats.

The pay: City Councilors earn about $11,405 annually. They are also eligible for health and dental insurance through City Hall. The coverage is valued at $11,320.80 per year. If a City Councilor chooses not to take the coverage, they receive the amount in cash.

We’re in: Erickson and Kernan have said they will seek re-election. Challengers who have publicized their plans to run are Liza Simpson and Kacy Quinley. Cone has not announced whether she will seek re-election.
