Beadniks owner takes over Local Card
February 9, 2010
Redstone businessman Tom Richardson found Slant Media Group’s Park City Local Card to be an effective method of promoting his store. So much so that he agreed to buy it.
The company is currently working on taking the idea to multiple cities nationally, and had less time to focus on this area. Richardson said he loves sending emails to interested people about his specials. It saves paper and targets residents.
"There seems to be a big push for locals shopping local. This program certainly seems to fit the bill," he said.
Before moving to Park City, he ran businesses in other communities including Martha’s Vineyard that had a similar card, but was not as successful.
"I believe it’s one of the best," he said.
The system rewards card holders as well as participating merchants.

"We see 20 to 25 percent of daily transactions involving a Local Card purchase," he said.
It’s also a great way to get involved in Internet marketing, Richardson added in a press release.
He plans to be involved in community events and introduce new services to help participants better communicate and even reach out to tourists coming to Park City.
