Bicycle rider, SUV collide

A 12-year-old girl riding a bicycle suffered head, neck and back injuries when she collided with a sport utility vehicle at the Kearns Boulevard-Monitor Drive intersection Thursday evening, the Park City Police Department said.

An ambulance transported the Prospector girl to a Salt Lake City hospital.

The police said she was riding eastbound on the sidewalk on the north side of Kearns Boulevard at a little before 8 p.m. She rode through a red light and hit the driver’s side fender and mirror, the police said. The driver was heading northbound through the intersection. The driver had the green light, according to the police.

The driver is 72 years old and from California. The police did not ticket the driver.

The girl was not wearing a helmet, the police said. She lives in Prospector. Her mother accompanied her to the hospital.
