Big pot bust near Coalville
February 5, 2010
Utah Highway Patrol troopers said about 351 pounds of marijuana was seized from a Lincoln Town Car stopped Jan. 28 on eastbound Interstate 80 near Coalville.
The driver had made a lane violation so troopers had probable cause to stop the car at about 7:20 a.m., the authorities said.
The officer noticed the two occupants of the vehicle were nervous as he spoke with them, according to Cameron Roden, a spokesman for the Utah Highway Patrol.
Stories from the suspects did not match, Roden said.
A search dog then indicated that drugs were likely inside the car, according to Roden.
There was a large amount of marijuana wrapped in paper and cellophane found in the trunk, he said.
