Donate toys at Dressbarn
The Tanger Outlet Center Dressbarn is participating in a company Toys for Tots Drive from Dec. 8-12. During this time, local Dressbarn stores will encourage residents to donate new, unwrapped toys for the cause. To show thanks, the stores will give customers who donate a 15 percent coupon off a regular priced item.
New head of grants for arts and museums
Boise, Idaho native Katie Woslager is the new Grants and Endowment Manager for the Utah Division of Arts and Museums. Woslager, who joins the Division with a background in management, human resources, and sales, will play an integral role in the development and roll-out of the Division’s new online grants system.
Logan is Utah’s best job market
In a newly released report, CNN.com in partnership with Careerbuilder.com announced the top 25 U.S. cities for finding a job. Among them are three Utah cities: Logan, Salt Lake City, and Provo. Logan ranked seventh best, boasting a 2.8 unemployment rate while Salt Lake City and Provo ranked 21st and 22nd respectively.
These rankings are based on multiple figures from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, including job growth rates and unemployment rates.
Senator Pat Jones honored
The 32nd Annual American Express Women & Business Conference and the Wells Fargo Building honored Sen. Pat Jones, D-Salt Lake, and new senate minority leader, the Athena Award. The luncheon on Nov. 18 recognized five "Pathfinders" and selected Jones for her achievements as the first female senate minority leader in state history, the President and Co-owner of Dan Jones & Associates, Inc. and an active member of the community.
Park City School District contracts for AI gun detection service
Park City School District will pay $546,000 over the next five years for ZeroEyes, a software company that uses artificial intelligence to detect brandished firearms, to monitor 650 cameras in all 12 schools.
