Lodging still down

Lodging tallies collected by the Park City Chamber/Bureau reveal that this week and last were both over 30 percent down from the same week a year ago. The year to date projections show Park City lodging numbers down only 12.5 percent.

SIA announces 5 percent decline in sales

Snow sports market sales declined 5 percent in dollars and three percent in units for the 2008-2009 season. 75,000 fewer skis were sold, 34,000 snowboards were sold. In apparel sales, dollar sales decreased 6 percent while units sales were up two percent. The discrepancy in equipment and clothing was due to retailers offering goods at discount prices.

SIA trade show has new name

SnowSports Industries America (SIA) recently announced the 2010 SnowSports Trade Show scheduled for Jan. 28-31, 2010 in Denver has a new name and identity. The trade show will now be known as the SIA Snow Show. After 37 years of hosting their annual trade show in Las Vegas, Nevada, SIA’s move to Denver will put the snow back in snow sports.
