Boy found dead in Coalville

Detectives are investigating the death of a Summit County boy after the 17-year-old was found dead in a car Saturday in Coalville around 12:40 a.m.

A deputy noticed a suspicious vehicle near the Summit County Fairgrounds and followed the car to a trailer park in Coalville where the boy was found unresponsive and slumped over "between the front passenger seat and the rear seat," a Sheriff’s Office press release states.

The officer removed the boy from the vehicle and began to perform CPR but was unable to revive him. There was no sign of traumatic injury but alcohol is considered a factor in the death, according to investigators who await the results of an autopsy being performed by the Utah State Medical Examiner’s Office.

Deputies had not released the name of the deceased at press time.
