Brief: More wind power near Casper, Wyo.

PacifiCorp, the parent company of Rocky Mountain Power, announced a power-purchase agreement to acquire the full output of a 200-megawatt wind-powered electric-generating project to be built north of Glenrock, Wyo. The 20-year agreement between PacifiCorp and a subsidiary of Duke Energy is for the Top of the World Wind Energy project, expected to reach commercial operation on Dec. 31, 2010. The wind project will consist of 110 wind turbines: 66 General Electric turbines, each capable of producing 1.5
megawatts; and 44 Siemens Energy, Inc. turbines, each capable of producing 2.3 megawatts.
