School board candidate withdraws

Karen Scott, who was running for Park City school board district five, has withdrawn from the race.

Charles Cunningham and Michael Boyle are still both running for the seat which covers Olympic Park, Lower Pinebrook/Ranch Estates, Timberline and Summit Park.

Utah history teacher of the year nominations

The Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History is seeking nominations for the annual Utah History Teacher of the Year Award. The winner is selected based on criteria including: experience in teaching American history for at least three years, a deep career commitment to teaching American history and evidence of creativity and imagination in the classroom.

The state winner will receive a $1,000 honorarium and will be in the running for the National History Teacher of the Year Award to be selected this fall.
