Yellow Snow hosts free concert on Black Friday
Yellow Snow Ice Cream and Coffee reduced its hours in fall. Starting Dec. 1 hours will resume to Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 11 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. The shop is at 2015 Sidewinder Dr. Live music will be offered from 7 to 9 p.m. on Black Friday.
Guv declares Nov. 27 ‘Small Business Saturday’
Participating in a national movement, Utah Governor Gary Herbert has declared Nov. 27 "Small Business Saturday" and is encouraging all residents to patronize local businesses this weekend.
Utahns warned of Internet retail fraud
According to the Utah Division of Consumer Protection, in the five years since "Cyber Monday" began, Internet fraud is the division’s No. 1 complaint among consumers, said director Francine A. Giani. Before you make a purchase on any website carefully review the terms of sale and confirm the site is secure before typing in any credit card or personal account information, she said. During fiscal year 2010, 27 percent of all consumer complaints received by the division were Internet-fraud related and included the following: failure to deliver goods, failure to honor a warranty and using false or misleading statements such as "free" when hidden costs were involved.
Park City School District contracts for AI gun detection service
Park City School District will pay $546,000 over the next five years for ZeroEyes, a software company that uses artificial intelligence to detect brandished firearms, to monitor 650 cameras in all 12 schools.
