Board of Realtors welcomes 2014

The Park City Board of Realtors had a successful year in 2013 and decided to spread the wealth by donating a total of $21,530 to the Peace House during their luncheon at The Yarrow Resort and Hotel Conference Center on Thursday, Jan. 9.
According to the last report received from the Board of Realtors, they saw upward tics in several different areas:
- Number of agents: +8 percent
- Average days on market: -21 percent
- Number of sales: +22 percent
- Volume sold: +23 percent
- Average sale price: +6 percent
- Median price: +9 percent
The newly elected CEO of the board of directors, Anne Reynolds, was introduced and thanked the room for the honor to represent them and said she was looking forward to another great year.
In celebration of the year’s success, the new board of directors was sworn in, including Jeff Spencer, Christine Grenney, David Tuschman, Michael Hebert and Walt Chudleigh. President-elect Nancy Tallman, secretary Deb Hartley and treasurer Suzanne Sheridan also took their place on the stage to be sworn in.
The stage was then cleared for new president Marcie Davis, along with her husband and daughter, as she was sworn in and gave her first remarks as president at the podium.
"I have been honored having had the opportunity to serve as a member of the board for these past three years, and I am now doubly honored to serve as president of the board," Davis said. "I only hope that I can be as level-headed and effective as my predecessor, Jeff Spencer, has been and I am beyond honored that Jeff will continue to be a member of the board of directors."

Davis introduced Peace House’s executive director, Jane Patten, and Ginny Schulman, creator of "Park City Cooks." The book was created with recipes sent in by Parkites and sold to raise funds for the Peace House on behalf of the Park City Board of Realtors. The Luxury Home Tour committee, chaired by Sandra Vogt, also raised funds for the organization.
As a result, the Board of Realtors was able to hand over two checks, totaling $21,530, to help the organization end the cycle of domestic violence. Patten shared with the room all that the funds enable the organization to do.
"We help tenants of the Peace House with case management, housing, food, clothes, aiding them with support groups and helping them to find resources to live a life of safety," Patten said. "In the past 14 years, the Board of Realtors has helped us house 745 adults and 507 children for a total of 1,252 residents staying 27,280 shelter nights."
Patten had several assistants show the room exactly how many people that was with strings of paperclips that stretched across the length of the conference room. That, she said, did not include the 3,552 non-shelter family inquiries they have received from family members and parishioners concerned about a women in their lives they felt needed to escape from abusive relationships.
Patten also said the Peace House has given 2,404 presentations at schools in Summit and Wasatch counties, reaching 51,692 students. All of the outreach they have accomplished could not have been done without the help of the Board of Realtors, she said.
Schulman presented Patten with a check for $7,251 from "Park City Cooks," and Vogt and the Luxury Home Tour Committee presented a check for $14,279.
Schulman then took the podium to ask the room to email her Microsoft Word documents with recipes for a new cookbook to raise funds once again. For those who would like to contribute, Schulman said she is more than happy to receive recipes at ginny@SkiPC.com.
The Park City Board of Realtors and its newly installed board of directors are looking forward to 2014 with Davis at the helm, who thanked the room for the honor of being named president. "Now let’s get out of here and make it another great year," she said.
