Renew joins Park City Chiropractic

The Francis family business appears to have added a few new members since the New Year.

As Anna Francis tends to a client at her Renew Day Spa, just beyond the threshold of her spa’s entrance, her father-in-law, Duane Francis, cradles her five-month-old daughter, Abby, and jokes with her four-year-old son Ryan in the Park City Chiropractic office in the next room.

The family has a history of practicing chiropractics since 1923, Duane says, and two decade’s worth of experience practicing chiropractics in Park City. Duane’s sons, Eric and Corey, now own and practice in the clinic he started in 1968.

Corey, who owns the spa with his wife Anna, is breaking with tradition, but, as Anna argues, they are also pushing the family practice toward a more well-rounded approach to health.

"All-around health has been the main goal, and this side will provide the look and feel of a balanced wellness," she explained. "We don’t do nails or hair. We work on the skin and body."

Renew’s owner, like her chiropractic-practicing family, sets her health standards high. Several of the spa’s three massage therapists and aestheticians have over five years of experience, and some have patented their own treatments. The special formula and body-slimming process in the spa’s JoAva body wrap, for instance, is a one-of-a-kind treatment, Francis notes.

Formerly an office manager for a local software distribution company, Software Media, Francis says she did a thorough investigation into spa equipment and services for Renew.

"We asked what people might like, and built our services from there," she explained.

As Francis researched her spa, a plastic surgeon recommended the Synergie Cellulite program, and Synergie’s microdermabrasion machine, a product certified by the FDA, she says.

Synergie’s microdermabrasion uses medical-grade crystal and takes off the first layers of new skin to help get rid of fine lines and acne scars, but unlike traditional microdermabrasion treatments that "scrape" skin, Synergie removes the crystals with its vacuum system.

The cellulite program applies a vacuum to the surface of the body to massage connective tissue and increase metabolism to smooth skin texture. The procedure typically involves multiple 30-minute visits.

Francis began the Synergie therapy after she gave birth to her daughter, she says, and has found that after four treatments, her stretch marks have virtually disappeared.

"A lot of plastic surgeons actually use Synergie before and after surgery to improve results," she explained. "Synergie makes us unique. We’re the only spa I know of in town that has it."

Renew has five rooms for massage and facials; two with plasma television screens and DVD options for body wraps or deep-tissue massages that last 45 minutes to an hour.

The spa also offers waxing, deep-cleaning facials, and deluxe facials with microdermabrasion. The menu of services stays affordable with an express 30-minute facial for $40, and $40 for a 30-minute massage.

Francis encourages people to take an extra step to her door for a facial after they get adjusted by her husband, brother-in-law or father-in-law.

"I love working with my family every day," she says. "They are generous, caring people and it’s great to be a part of the clinic."

Renew Face and Body Spa is located at 1678 Bonanza Drive. The spa is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. For more information, or to make an appointment call (435) 645-7639. The Park City Chiropractic Clinic can be reached at (435) 649-1071.
