City manager hiring: ‘we ain’t done yet’
Mayor Dana Williams on Thursday acknowledged that a new Park City manager might not be hired until next year.
In an interview, Williams said "our timeline will probably be exceeded." Officials had anticipated that a city manager would be hired in December.
"Quite possibly, maybe even later," he said when asked whether the person would be hired by January.
Officials have not released information about the finalists.
Williams declined to discuss details of the hiring process. The mayor and the City Council have spent hours recently in closed-door sessions interviewing finalists and talking about the selection. Williams declined to answer whether the interviews have been completed.
In comments during a Thursday meeting of the City Council, Williams said it is "not an easy decision."
"We ain’t done yet," the mayor said.
He praised the work of a community interview panel that has been assisting in the process.
The elected officials are preparing to hire someone to succeed Tom Bakaly, who departed in August after more than nine years as the city manager to become the top staffer in Hermosa Beach, Calif.
The Christian Center of Park City had a makeover last year, and its boutique felt it was time for one, too.
