Park City Winterfest 2009 is underway
Winterfest, a 10-day festival with ski competitions in moguls, aerials, half-pipe and dual moguls competitions, is part of the VISA Freestyle International at Deer Valley Resort and Park City Mountain Resort. Winterfest continues with Rossignol’s Silver Ski Tour, events and activities at the Utah Olympic Park, and a week’s worth of moonlight snowshoeing and cross-country skiing tours and ice sculpture demonstrations. The final weekend features the International Pedigree Stage Stop Sled Dog Race and the Burton Super Demo Tour and Am Series. For a list of time and dates, call 800-453-1360 for more information.
Tele Tribe at The Canyons
Join the Tele Tribe, Park City’s youth telemark skiing club. The program offers telemark ski instruction in a safe, noncompetitive atmosphere for all levels and abilities, ages eight to 18 years old. Meet at The Canyons Resort at Red Pine Lodge on Sundays from noon until 4 p.m. The Tele Tribe runs until April 5. Cost depends on how many participants sign up. "A Christmas Tale" plays final day at Park City Library

The Park City Film Series returns this week with "A Christmas Tale," an official selection at the Cannes, Toronto and New York film festivals. Catherine Deneuve stars as the mother of a large dysfunctional family that gathers for the holidays. This is funny and emotional family drama comes from director Arnaud Desplechin. The film screens in the Jim Santy auditorium Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 6 p.m. Adult tickets are $7.
World Cup Halfpipe
Come to the Ski Halfpipe and Dual Mogul Competition Saturday at Park City Mountain Resort. Qualifications for men and women runs from 9:30 until 11:30 a.m. Halfpipe finals run from 12:30 until 1:30 p.m. Ladies moguls qualifications run from 4:45 to 5:30 p.m., and the men follow at 5:45 p.m. Finals for men and women are at 8 p.m.
