Coalville mayor, council results in

Aaron Osowski, The Park Record

Trever Johnson will be the new mayor of Coalville on Tuesday. He beat mayoral candidate and current Coalville City Council member Arlin Judd 205 votes to 112.

"I’m excited about the results. I want to thank Arlin for the hard-fought campaign, and I look forward to working with him in the future," Johnson said after the results were announced.

Johnson said that, besides getting the new wastewater treatment plant and Icy Springs bridge projects started, he wants to focus on attracting move-ins and new businesses to Coalville.

Johnson is currently the manager of operations for a company that does maintenance for commercial buildings.

"Making Coalville an attractive place for growth and opportunity [is important]," Johnson said. "I really appreciate [the citizens’] support and their trust in my abilities and I look forward to serving them and working with them to make Coalville a better place."

Three candidates were also running for two vacant City Council seats. Cuyler Scates (282 votes) and Rodney Robbins (160 votes) beat out Bob McKeehan (123 votes).

Scates and Robbins will take over for outgoing council members Andrea Hewson and David Vernon. Scates is a construction manager while Robbins rents and maintains properties in Coalville.

The results are unofficial until they are canvassed by the council next week.
