Cops hunt three suspects in Jeremy home invasion

Summit County Sheriff’s Office deputies were hunting three men this week who robbed two people inside a Jeremy Ranch area home early Thursday morning.

After entering the home through a second-story window, the suspects woke the victims and forced them from their bed demanding cash at about 1 a.m., according to Detective Ron Bridge, a spokesman for the Summit County Sheriff’s Office.

The men stacked patio furniture and other items to reach an upper balcony, Bridge said in a telephone interview.

The victims said they do not know the men who robbed the house.

"The window was unsecured and they just simply opened it," Bridge said. "It doesn’t sound random to me."

The suspects taped each of the victims to a chair and fled the scene, Bridge said.

The married couple freed themselves within about 20 minutes and called 911. The home invasion occurred in Moose Hollow, which is a gated subdivision.

"Handguns were brandished during the crime," Bridge said. "All three suspects had guns."

The suspects stole a bank deposit bag filled with an undisclosed amount of cash. The men, who wore masks during the robbery, were described as being in their late teens or early 20s.

Meanwhile, the same people were robbed inside the same Moose Hollow house about 18 months ago, Bridge said.

Two men and one woman broke into the home through a window on the ground level. Cash was also stolen during that robbery.

Three people were arrested and detectives collected DNA evidence in the case, Bridge explained.

He said the two separate home invasions are not related.
