Cops show off station

The Park City Police Department plans two open houses at the new police station, providing people with an insider view of the well-secured station.

The events are:

( Friday, Dec. 14 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m.

( Saturday, Dec. 15 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.

The station is at 2060 Park Ave., near the post office.

The department touts the station as being environmentally friendly, with features like a white-colored roof to reflect sunlight to keep the building cool in the summer and low-flow showerheads.

The building employs a geothermal heating and cooling system, which relies on the Earth’s energy.

Police officials have long desired a standalone station, which they say is more secure and roomier than the department’s old offices at City Hall.

For more information, call City Hall at 615-5001.
