New subdivision approved

A new, four-lot subdivision near Coalville was approved Wednesday night at the Eastern Summit County Planning meeting.

The commission voted unanimously to allow the subdivision and there was no public comment regarding the decision.

Located on Spring Canyon Road near Coalville, the 14.5 acre R.W. Ranch was parceled into four lots ranging from three to seven acres. The owner has plans to build on one lot immediately. The other three lots will be built on and sold however there is no time frame for when that will be.

To protect the agricultural use of the property and accommodate slopes and drainage ditches, only a portion of each lot is allowed to be developed.

"The seven acre lot is limited to about one acre of development and the smaller lots are limited to slightly less than an acre of development," said County Planner Kimber Gabryszak.

Gabryszak added that with the economy beginning to look up, people are interested in getting approval and permits for projects but still seem to be holding off on building or selling.
